Food Items to Carry on a Motorbike Trip
What generally happens when you ask your mom to hand over something to eat while being on a road trip? The usual Indian moms that we know will pack up a whole lot of parathas (Indian bread) with aachar (pickle) and lots of laddus (sweets) and what not. Well if you’re going on a long motorbike trip and still confused what food to pack in your luggage? I have listed some delicious and easy to carry food items that will fill up your stomach and also are very nutritious to eat.
-
Energy Bars (Gluten Free)
This is a true creation of the 21st century. There are so many essential nutrients extracted and put together to fulfil the need of our body. There are different types of bars to fulfil different needs of the body. Energy bars provide the majority of their food energy (calories) in carbohydrate form.Meal replacement bars are made in a way so that all the nutrients in a meal are put in a proper ratio. If you are hitting your gym regularly, you must be aware of the protein bars which are a high source of protein but contain lesser amount of vitamins and dietary fibers.
Pack more of these bars as they are small in size and more of them can be put together. -
Dried Fruits and Nuts
Both Dried fruits and nuts have a very long shelf life and because of their small size and higher nutritive values, every motorcyclist should consider packing it for the trip. Also there is a wide variety of dried fruits and nuts available in the market such as raisins, pistachios, walnuts, peanuts, dates, dried apples, dried peaches, dried plums, figs, etc. My two most favourite and fulfilling are cashew nuts and almond nuts as just 10 of each can serve a high amount of protein and carbohydrates. -
Veggies
Carry your veggies and be cool as a cucumber to share the healthy platter with your friends as well. While packing your veggies, cherry pick the one which are still about to ripe properly and would be ready to eat in a day. Prefer taking carrots, cucumbers and celeries. Another good idea is to prepare sandwiches with these veggies and wrap them up nicely in an aluminium foil. This can turn out to be a very satisfactory meal on your journey. -
Chocolates and Crisps
Chocolates and crisps are good entertainers for your hunger. Pack more of small chocolates & munchies. The same goes with the crisps. On long journeys, small bags of crisps are preferable, as you can empty one in one go and dump the package away rather than keeping an open package in your bag and risking it spilling over or bothering yourself with securing the package. You can buy chocolate cookies as well, but choose ones that don’t crush easily. -
Parathas
Do not forget the parathas, people have been carrying parathas with them for long journeys. It has been an inseparable part of our Indian culture. It is both healthy and fulfilling. Pack it well in an aluminium foil to keep it fresh for a longer time.
