Adventures of Ladakh | Manali – Leh – Manali (Ladakh for foreigners)

Spend the day walking along the colourful and vibrant markets and find the
hidden gems of this enchanting Himalayan town. Towards the evening you will be provided with your motorcycles to test them for the adventurous journey ahead.

We start our day early and ride from Manali to Jispa. Pass the Beas nalla – the place before Rohtang pass where the river Beas flows and forms a stream and gorge, then to Marhi a “shanty town of roadside restaurants” in Himachal Pradesh located midway between Manali and Rohtang on the Manali-Leh Highway, and Rohtang pass at an elevation of 13,054 ft.

After breakfast start your journey to Baralacha pass which is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range, connecting Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, situated along the Leh–Manali Highway. En route you will be crossing Darcha a village on the Bhaga River in Lahaul region. It is the northernmost permanent settlement in Himachal Pradesh along the Manali-Leh Highway. And then you head towards Sarchu a major halt point with tented accommodation in the Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway, on the boundary between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.It lies on Baralacha La to the south and Lachulung La to the north, at an altitude of 4,290 m.The halt will add an extreme adventure to your biking expedition with its camp.Because of its sky reaching altitude, the only means of accommodation possible in the valley is camping.

Move towards Leh covering approx 250 kms on your bike. Leh, a high altitude desert city in the Himalayas, is the capital of the Leh region in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir state. Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and astonishing landscapes. En route cross Naki mountain ranges situated between Gurla Dhār and Handi Got, crossover Lahera Dhār, Lachang La (5065 m) and Tanglang La pass (5300m) which is the highest mountain pass on the Manali – Leh highway and the world’s second highest motorable road. Enter the Indus valley from the Zanskar valley. At an elevation of 6000m, Zanskar is the wild and untamed valley of the clouds, with the Himalayas guarding it like a mother; it is where the skies speak, and the mountains echo, and the poppies and the edelweiss bloom.

Take your bikes and explore Leh and around. You’ll be visiting our handpicked attractions around the city. Witnessing the weather changing in a matter of minutes will help you to get used to the weather here. Get back to the hotel soon after sunset. Overnight in Leh.

After breakfast, start your ride towards Nubra Valley. You’ll be crossing the highest motorable pass in the world – Khardung La! The view from the top (5600m) is spectacular and we have time to enjoy a photo session. Later we ride to Nubra Valley. It’s another 95 km from Khardungla Pass. Overnight stay is in the Nubra Valley.

Today we will be taking one of the most uncommon routes in Ladakh. We will ride to Pangong via Shyok village. A route previously accessible only to the army, it has opened recently for the tourists. While riding you will definitely enjoy the scenic view of mountains and waterfalls.

After breakfast, we start our ride back to Leh crossing the third highest pass in the world- Chang La. The route is beautiful and sure to leave you mesmerised.

Today we start descending towards Manali, we will halt at Sarchu for the night.

After breakfast, we will head back towards Manali taking the same route back. We will check in at the hotel and celebrate the ride we conquered. Overnight in Manali.
