Day 1Arrive in Sri Lanka

Book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) and we will pick you up from there and drop you to the hotel. You can enjoy your day today exploring the coastal town of Negombo.

Day 2Negombo - Sigiriya

Distance: 150 kms

We leave to Sigiriya after a delicious breakfast to visit Pineries and tile / brick factories in this journey. Also we will witness some other important places on the way. We will also be visiting Dambulla which has a fascinating series of caves filled with beautiful Buddhist statues and paintings. Then we go to our hotel nearby to the ancient Sigoriya Rock to have a good relaxing swim in the pool. We will spend the night at Sigiriya.

Day 3Sigiriya - Trincomalee

Distance: Approx 100 kms

Today, we head to Trincomalee across the former No Man’s Land. You can witness the world famous Deepwater harbor at Trincomalee. Trinco had been a British Naval Base during World War II. We will also see the war cemetery outside the town made for sailor’s servicemen who perished during hostilities with the Japanese. We visit the historic Koneswaram Hindu temple, perched on rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean. The original temple dates to 400 BC but it has been restored later as it had been destroyed by the Portuguese colonialists who were intolerant of other religions. Now the Koneswaram temple is an attractive place of worship with a lot of stunning views. We will spend the night in Nilaweli at the North of Trico.

Day 4Trincomalee - Polonnaruwa

Distance Approx 120 kms

Today, we ride west to explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the 2nd Kingdom of Sri Lanka. Polonnaruwa’s ruined places and dagobas provide a fascinating insight into the post reign of glory. In the 11th century, Polonnaruwa replaced Anuradhapura as Sri lanka’s ruling city after a devastating invasion by invaders from South India. The King Parakramabahu I , the most famous of Polonnaruwa’s rulers had created the vast Parakroma Samudra (Sea of parakrama) which remains one of the finest examples of Sri Lanka’s skill at water management. We will stay overnight at Polonnaruwa.

Day 5Polonnaruwa - Mahiyangana

Distance: Approx 100 kms

We strike out for the east leaving the historic Polonnaruwa driving through lush mountain terrain. We pass the big Victoria Reservoir then climb steadily higher until winding down at the eastern plains on the famous 18 hairpin bend pass. Passing through the town of Mahiyangana with its famous Buddish temple, we arrive at Dambana, the ancestral home of Sri lanka’s indigenous Vedda people. In the evening, we enjoy a traditional Vedda dancing sesson as the sun sets down.

Day 6Mahiyangana – Knuckles Mountain range

Distance: Approx 75 kms

Looming before us we will catch sight the recumbent folds and peaks of a section of mountain known as the Knuckles for its resemblance to a clenched fist. Sinhaleese locals have traditionally referred to this area as Dumbara Kanduvetiya which means a mist-laden mountain range. The entire area is characterized by its stunning landscapes often robed in thick layers of cloud and mist. We spend the night at Knuckels Mountains.

Day 7 and 8Knuckles Mountain range - Kandy

Distance: Approx 50 kms

Kandy is the second-largest city in Sri Lanka after Colombo and it is famous for its Royal Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth. It is situated in a beautiful highland region of tea plantations. Kandy had been the capital city of the last remaining independent kingdom of Sri Lanka after the coastal regions were conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British respectively from 1592 to 1815. At last it was capitulated to the British. The famous Royal Botanical Gardens were the Lord Mountbatten’s headquarters during the Second World War. We Spend the Night at Kandy.

Day 9Kandy – Nuwara eliya

Distance Approx 150 kms

We move towards the mountains higher and higher along the hair-pin road, until we reach Nuwara Eliya city, known as the Little England from the days when the British used to retreat here to escape the scorching heat of the lowlands. Nuwara Eliya is situated at an altitude of 6,128ft. We visit Ramboda falls hotel which is supposed to be the best spot adjacent to Ramboda falls for a buffet lunch while enjoying a fascinating view. Proceeding our journey, we approach to a tea factory. We will have an excursion in the factory giving us a walkthrough on the entire step by step tea making process. Also you have an opportunity to taste & buy variety of tea products. Nuwara-Eliya is our day’s last destination to accommodate in a lovely place.

Day 10Nuwara eliya – Kitulgala

Distance: Approx 75 kms

Today, we ride to Kitulgala. Be ready for an adrenaline rush as Kithugala is known for white water rafting in the Kalani river.

Day 11End of tour

Distance: Approx 90 kms

Recent reviews

  • I just came back from a two week trip in Sri Lanka where I rented a Honda 250 to travel around the island. Prior to my arrival, they attentively answered all my emails and ensure a smooth reservation process. On arrival, they showed me the motorcycle I had reserved, and but also let me test drive a few bikes to ensure I was happy with the type and condition of bike. He also gave us very good recommendations on scenic routes, times/distances, and tips on Sri Lankan traffic. The bike rode well, with no issues whatsoever.

Please note that all those horror review on the dangers of driving in Sri Lanka are overblown. If you take secondary routes (which I assume most motorcyclists would want to anyway) you have the occasional mini bus and tuk tuk to deal with. Being a big motorcycle enthusiast and having ridden all over East Africa and Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka is hands down one of my top motorcycling destinations. The scenery, geography and wildlife encountered is not to be missed.

  • Well organised tour with great service and friendly staff. The guide did know all the great back ways and was very attentive of the groups as well.
A fantastic way to see the country with competent, friendly and smiling staff through the whole tour.

  • Once I landed in Colombo, as promised, someone was available to pick me up and I was taken to the guest house. As agreed earlier, the next day morning, a car was arranged and help to take me to Colombo to get my temporary driving permit (I am from India and did not have an IDP). Everything was taken care properly and all formalities were quickly done.

I rented the bike which was in good condition. I drove for a total of 500+ kms in 5 days through all sorts of terrain. Though it had already had 37,000+ kms on the odo, the bike did not give even a whiff of any trouble 🙂

Everything was handled well which made things smooth for me. No hassles. Definitely recommended.

  • Recently finished a 7 day tour with these guys – and what a great experience from start to finish. Correspondence with them in the office prior to the tour was easy and professional – nothing was an issue.
Bikes were in great condition we changed the itinerary multiple times and also during the tour if we wanted something different that day it was no issue at all. Our tour guide Nisal was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable of every area of his country, very friendly and kind and was willing to cater to any changes we wish to make mid tour – extremely professional and we became great friends by the end of the tour.
If you wish to tour Sri Lanka via motorbike this is the company for you.
Thanks again for the great experience.
