For those of you who are interested in history and architecture, you will be amazed by the things you are going to experience in this ride
Highlights along the route include:
-Visit to two ancient cities
-Exploring the coastal towns of Sri Lanka
-Ride through rubber, pineapple and spice plantations

Day 1Arrive in Sri Lanka

Book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport(CMB). We will pick you up from there and drop you to your hotel. Start with Enjoying the interesting coastal town of Negombo. You can also spend a relaxing evening by the sea at our beach hotel.

Day 2Negombo - Kalpitiya

Distance: 140 km

Leaving the churches and canals of Negombo we ride north up the coast to beautiful Kalpitiya, one of the newly-discovered tourist areas of Sri Lanka. Situated 140km north of Negombo, the Kalpitiya peninsula sits between Puttalam lagoon and the Indian Ocean. It is a marine sanctuary with a diversity of habitats including bar reefs, flat coastal plains, saltpans, mangrove swamps, salt marshes and vast sand dune beaches. It was a famous trading hub from the Portuguese era. We spend the night in Kalpitiya.

Day 3Kalpitiya - Anuradhapura

Distance: 120 km

We will start the day with a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Later, we ride south and inland to Anuradhapura, the first established kingdom in ancient Sri Lanka. Founded by King Pandukabhaya in 377 BC, Anuradhapura has a wealth of historic and Buddhist sites including giant brick dagobas, ancient palaces, huge lakes and sacred Bo Tree. Riding south-east we encounter the carved stone Aukana Buddha statue – the tallest ancient Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. We spend the night at Anuradhapura Ancient City.

Day 4Anuradhapura – Polonnaruwa

Distance 110 km

Stretching over rolling grassland, Polonnaruwa’s ruined palaces and dagobas provide a fascinating insight into a past reign of glory. Back in the 11th century, Polonnaruwa replaced Anuradhapura as Sri Lanka’s ruling city after a devastating invasion by invaders from south India. It reached its height in the 12th century. The most famous of Polonnaruwa’s rulers, King Parakramabahu I, created the vast Parakrama Samudra (Sea of Parakrama) which remains one of the finest examples of Sri Lanka’s skill at water management. We stay overnight at Polonnaruwa Ancient city.

Day 5Polonnaruwa - Kandy

Distance: 150 km

Today, we ride south passing through the mysterious Knuckles mountain range before arriving for the night in the city of Kandy. The second-largest city in Sri Lanka after Colombo, Kandy is famous for its Royal Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth. Situated in a beautiful highland region of tea plantations, Kandy was capital city of the last remaining independent kingdom of Sri Lanka after the coastal regions were conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British respectively. It was capital city from 1592 until 1815 when it at last capitulated to the British. The famous Royal Botanical Gardens were Lord Mountbatten’s headquarters during World War II.

Day 6End of tour

Distance: 100 km

Today is your last day of riding. Today’s highlights include riding through rubber, pineapple and spice plantations. After reaching Negombo we drive to Sha Lanka tour base & return the bikes & transfer you to your hotel on the beach.

Recent reviews

  • I just came back from a two week trip in Sri Lanka where I rented a Honda 250 to travel around the island. Prior to my arrival, they attentively answered all my emails and ensure a smooth reservation process. On arrival, they showed me the motorcycle I had reserved, and but also let me test drive a few bikes to ensure I was happy with the type and condition of bike. He also gave us very good recommendations on scenic routes, times/distances, and tips on Sri Lankan traffic. The bike rode well, with no issues whatsoever.

Please note that all those horror review on the dangers of driving in Sri Lanka are overblown. If you take secondary routes (which I assume most motorcyclists would want to anyway) you have the occasional mini bus and tuk tuk to deal with. Being a big motorcycle enthusiast and having ridden all over East Africa and Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka is hands down one of my top motorcycling destinations. The scenery, geography and wildlife encountered is not to be missed.

  • Well organised tour with great service and friendly staff. The guide did know all the great back ways and was very attentive of the groups as well.
A fantastic way to see the country with competent, friendly and smiling staff through the whole tour.

  • Once I landed in Colombo, as promised, someone was available to pick me up and I was taken to the guest house. As agreed earlier, the next day morning, a car was arranged and help to take me to Colombo to get my temporary driving permit (I am from India and did not have an IDP). Everything was taken care properly and all formalities were quickly done.

I rented the bike which was in good condition. I drove for a total of 500+ kms in 5 days through all sorts of terrain. Though it had already had 37,000+ kms on the odo, the bike did not give even a whiff of any trouble 🙂

Everything was handled well which made things smooth for me. No hassles. Definitely recommended.

  • Recently finished a 7 day tour with these guys – and what a great experience from start to finish. Correspondence with them in the office prior to the tour was easy and professional – nothing was an issue.
Bikes were in great condition we changed the itinerary multiple times and also during the tour if we wanted something different that day it was no issue at all. Our tour guide Nisal was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable of every area of his country, very friendly and kind and was willing to cater to any changes we wish to make mid tour – extremely professional and we became great friends by the end of the tour.
If you wish to tour Sri Lanka via motorbike this is the company for you.
Thanks again for the great experience.
