Tour Name: Highland Adventure in Vietnam (Extended)
Tour ID: 5930
Tour type:  Scheduled
Duration: 10 days
Distance: 1500 km
Maximum: 15 participants
Best Season: March – June

Brief info about the tour:
This 9-day Highland Adventure ride will take us through some of Vietnam’s wildest and most diverse hidden highland areas. Winding roads thread our course over jungle-covered mountains, along deep gorges and through isolated wooden villages where little has changed for hundreds of years. Local farmers, hill-tribes and excited children will wave us on our way, as we ride deep into Vietnam’s rural, mountainous heart. Many of the roads we ride are almost empty of traffic, and we’ll be seeing a part of Vietnam that very few other travellers have the opportunity to encounter. There’s nothing quite like the sense of freedom and adventure that comes from riding these spectacular roads and meeting the exceptionally hospitable locals along the way. We travel at a relaxed pace with plenty of time for random roadside stops, allowing you to really take everything in and get the most out of this unique experience. The tour itinerary below gives you a flavour of what you’ll experience on this amazing ride.
Highlights along the route include:
– Central Highlands
– Remote Villages
– Remote Hill Tribes
– Old War History sites
– Ho Chi Minh Trail
– Central Highlands, Nha Trang
– Hue, Da Nang
–  Hai Van Pass, BBC Top Gear destinations

Itinerary

Day 0Arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)

Book your flight to arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) .The tour begins from Nha Trang. Pre tour Flight transfer from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) to Nha Trang is included. Today’s accommodation is also included.

Day 1Great ocean road of Nha Trang - Nha Trang

Distance: 80 km

Time to start the ride! For those who are up early, feel free to enjoy a dip in the pool or stroll down the beach. We will have a quick briefing and a short test ride before we begin riding. A great relaxed start to what’s guaranteed to be an epic adventure. Riding along the winding coastline, expect some outstanding views of the South China Sea. We soon stop in at Bai Dai Long Beach, with a beach that stretches far as the eye can see, lined with bamboo huts on the golden sandy shores. Don’t forget to bring your swimwear! Take a dip or relax while our lunch is freshly made. After lunch, we will take an awesome afternoon ride, checking out some local villages and country back roads. Then, in the evening, you can join us and the for a delicious welcome dinner at BBQ Un In!

Day 2Nha Trang - Dalat

Distance: 160 km

Today we ride into the stunning mountains and countryside of the REAL Vietnam! With a little morning traffic, we are soon out of Nha Trang and heading towards the Central Highlands. As we make our way up the mountain pass, heading towards the hill top retreat of Dalat, you can enjoy some breathtaking views from high up on the mountains. Famed as the ‘Swiss Alps of Vietnam,’ Dalat holds some very unique European-influenced architecture and has a cooler climate than the surrounding areas. Dalat was a popular respite for commanders and war correspondents alike who were fortunate enough to escape the front lines. Many strategies were devised here, though Dalat was largely untouched by the fighting. However, it was in fact home to the National Military Academy. Dalat today is famed as the city of love; partially owing to its flower growing, it has become a popular holiday retreat for young Vietnamese couples. Evenings are cool and the local night market is a must-see.

Day 3Dalat - Lak Lake

Distance: 155 km

We’ve got another great day ahead! Back in the saddle, we ride from Dalat to Lak Lake. Featuring winding back roads that carve through coffee fields and rural farms, this is an outstanding ride. Plenty of stops along the way allow us to try some local coffee and visit an old (and very interesting!) silk-making factory. We will then pass through some small villages, where you will see countless farmers tending crops – Vietnamese style! Roads in these parts are often shared by farmers and livestock, children walking to and from school etc. So keep focused!
We will then arrive at our overnight guest house, offering quality air conditioned rooms WiFi. Better still, we are located across from Lak Lake and the surrounding rice fields! Not to mention the constant sight of passing elephants. Did we mention a cold beer too? Local food in this region is super fresh and tasty. Lak Lake is home to several minority tribes and some traditional villages that are well worth taking the time to look at.

Day 4Lak Lake - Buon Ma Thout

Distance: 125 km

An easy start into today. We saddle up and ride into the Dak Nong province, which was the scene of many conflicts and heavy bombing by the US Airforce. Today these regions are farmed coffee plantations. The roads winding through the regions provide not only great riding, but also a true insight of this mighty country. Our lunch stop is at the impressive Dray Sap waterfalls – great for dip while our lunch is prepared! Back out on the road, our ride will have us arriving at our Boun Ma Thout Hotel around 3pm. Time to relax, take a dip in the pool and sip a cool drink.

During today’s ride, we will also take you for a small visit to a local school, where you will find out what it means to live as a local in the real Vietnam. We try to do anything we can to support the locals, so we will be gifting some supplies whilst we are there. If you’d like to help by donating any small items, you have a special opportunity here to do so!

Day 5Buon Ma Thuot - Kon Tum

Distance: 230 km

One of the longer stretches of riding sets off today and it just keeps getting better! More awesome roads, lush jungle, rubber tree plantations, altitude changes, minority villages and much more! Venturing deep and entering the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, we will show you the famed supply route that carves through the most remote mountain jungles of Vietnam. Used by the Viet Cong to send troops and supplies from North to South throughout the raging war, today the Ho Chi Minh trail is a joy for riders to behold. This incredible road is simply amazing! Over the coming days you will see Vietnam from a truly unique perspective. This is goint to be a true motorcycling adventure!

Day 6Kon Tum - Kham Duc

Distance: 180 km

This is the proper Ho Chi Minh trail in all its twisting and undulating glory! Steeped in history, crucial to the war effort, vital to the life blood of Vietnam, it virtually speaks to you as you negotiate each turn. This is where the bulk of the riding footage from that famous Top Gear special took place so soak it up and enjoy what will be one of the best days of your life!
As many of our riders say, they just can’t believe the sheer beauty of these areas and the amazing roads which you simply have to see for yourself! Overnight we will stay at our Hotel in Kham Duc, featuring an in-house kitchen that cooks some great meals. Plenty of cool drinks to be had!

Day 7Kham Duc - Khe Sanh

Distance: 300 km

The twisting roads that follow Da Krong River hold views across outstanding scenery. Villagers can be seen taking care of the day’s washing in the river, this place is amazing! Old traditional handmade village huts line the roadside, making this a grand day on so many levels. Vietnam touches your heart in so many ways, rich in history, deep in culture. Sharing the experience with the crew and like-minded riders is something that will stay deep with you as one of your most incredible adventures. This isolated and rarely used section of road passes through majestic scenery close to the Laos border. When we reach our destination of Khe Sanh, we will have a great overnight hotel stay with awesome food, splitting the bill on a hearty meal that will cost just a few dollars.

Day 8Khe Sanh - Hue

Distance: 160 km

Our journey today will have us winding down towards the Hue, a city based right in the centre of Vietnam. This point in the country almost serves as a divide between the North and South. Hue, located on the banks of the Perfume River, was the national capital until 1945. The Imperial Citadel is well known for its historic monuments, which have earned it a place in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Check into our hotel, with each room tastefully decorated with traditional Vietnamese antiques and great views of the surrounding city.

Day 9Hue - Da Nang

Distance: 120 km

With our final destination of Danang in sight, this last stretch of riding includes the famed Hai Van Pass, as featured on “Top Gear”. This ribbon pass offers outstanding views of the South China Sea. Danang is the conclusion of this epic adventure, with an overnight stay in our hotel in Danang. Enjoy a night out to say your goodbyes to your new friends and the crew! On the next day, there will be a short flight to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, which is included in your tour package.

  • This was my first Trip to Vietnam, no better way to see it, than on a motorbike.
No better way to do it, than with Vietnam Motorbike tours.

Your tour guide Bao and his well organised crew will guide you through some of the best sights in Vietnam.
No camera can capture the true beauty of this amazing country.

Cruising through the Villages with the sun on your face, the smell of smokey seafood bbq in the air, with inquisitive smiles from the locals, lets you know the Vietnamese people welcome you.

From the first nights accomidation to the last was first class, there is an endless supply of refreshments accompanied with daily lunches with generous servings that will not disappoint.

Bao and his crew will guide you at a comfortable pace through a country that needs to be seen and felt through your own eyes.

I have fallen in love with Vietmam and the spirit of the Vietnamese, who are truly beautiful people.

The saddest part is leaving, you will have a life changing experience that will live in your heart forever.

  • Jason, Benwah and the team are incredible! My husband Paul has toured with them in Vietnam and we both toured with them in Cambodia. To say that our motorcycle tours with this amazing company is what inspired us to subsequently travel the world on motorcycles is an understatement… this is where our introduction to and passion for motorcycle touring began! Nothing was too much trouble for the team and our individual needs were paramount throughout. It was simply the most spectacular way to experience Cambodia and Vietnam! The back-up vehicles and support, medical attention at times of need, great accommodation, food and fun, fun, fun! It was simply superb! We learned a great deal about the local history and were particularly inspired in Cambodia to support Global Village Housing and purchase a home for a family in need. This organization is not just about providing a great motorcycle tour experience but also about empowering the local communities through which you travel and you leave wiser and richer for the experience. I cannot recommend the team highly enough! Thank you for awesome memories guys, you are appreciated.
