Tour type:Scheduled
Duration: 08 days
Distance: 900 km Approximately
Maximum: 20 Motorycles, 35 participants
Best Season: September – December | January – May

Brief about the tour:
Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys.

Itinerary

Day 1Siliguri to Phuentsholing (157 km)

Report to Siliguri and start our journey to Bhutan, The sprawling city of Siliguri which is the strategically placed to open up to international border as well as North East of India. We will allot the bikes to the group and we will start our ride to Phuentsholing, the border city of Bhutan. The drive along the National Highway 31 from Siliguri to Sevoke through Dooars is a paradise. Combination of thick forests and numerous tea plantations spread over acres of land absorbs us in the lap of nature. Finally after an endless crater of riding, we reach Jaigaon and cross the gate to enter Phuentsholing. It is a different world with a refreshing change from the chaos of normal Indian Bazaar to quiet and orderly kingdom. Evening is for self exploration of the place. After dinner, there will be a group orientation session followed by the briefing of the ride. The session will include the introduction of bikers, tips about the ride by the road, captains and also about the culture of Bhutan along with the road and climatic conditions.

Day 2Phuentsholing Local Exploration (50 km)

We start our day in the beautiful country of Bhutan with a hearty breakfast post which we head towards the immigration office to complete the immigration formalities. The whole procedure takes a couple of hours including submitting the ID proof, biometrics, etc. Upon completion of the same, we’d have enough time to explore the alluring town of Phuentsholing and wonder at the stark difference between the two cities located on either sides of the Bhutan Gate. We retreat to our hotel for the night and prep ourselves for an early start tomorrow.

Day 3Phuentsholing to Thimpu (165 km)

Today. We will embark on the journey through the misty and winding roads. It could rain through some or more part of your ride. That adds to the mystical and nature filled destination you are now entering. On the way we’ll make a few stops at local tea houses and Dantak canteen. There are a few places your permits will be stamped. Once closer to Thimphu, you slow down and ride into the capital city. We should be in our hotel by late afternoon. There are no traffic lights in Bhutan and hence some circuitous routes to your hotel would be evident.

Day 4Thimpu Local Exploration

In the morning, we visit Memorial Chorten (built in memory of the third King of Bhutan who reigned from 1952-1972), nunnery temple, mini zoo to see Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Today, we also visit other landmarks of Thimphu including the National
Institute of Traditional Medicine, Bhutanese traditional painting school, folk heritage museum, the majestic Tashichho Dzong and the traditional paper factory. However, some of the landmarks are closed in the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Therefore, if we
are in Thimphu during the weekends, we explore the Weekend Market instead. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 5Thimpu to Punakha (86 km)

On a clear day, you get the best of the Bhutan’s Himalayan views from here. It’s then a nice ride all the way to Punakha Dzong – the most photogenic Dzong in Bhutan. Before reaching Punakha we would take an interesting detour to the Temple of the Mad Lama – Chimi Lakhang – and listen to the story of flying phalluses. We then ride through some nice village roads to reach the Punakha Dzong and out hotel. If time permits, we will see Dzong this evening. Or else would postpone to next morning.

Day 6Punakha to Paro (127 km)

After breakfast, we drive to Paro via Dochu La pass. There, we visit the new Druk Wangyal Monastery. With elaborate paintings depicting the lineage of the present monarchy and their visionary works, the Druk Wangyal Monastery is the only one of its kind in the country. After the tour of the monastery, we continue our drive with a stop in Thimphu for lunch. Overnight in Paro.

Day 7Paro Local Exploration

After breakfast, we hike for 4 -5 hours to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan’s most famous monastery situated at 3,180 meters. Guru Rinpoche (spiritual master) is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Lunch will be served in the Cafeteria Restaurant, located about halfway up the mountain. After having explored the monastery, we hike down to the valley floor and return back to Paro for an overnight stay.

Day 8Paro to Siliguri (320 km)

You will begin your return journey today with a ride back to Phuentsholing – one that covers 150km in about 4 hours. Check into your hotel on arrival; unwind for the rest of the evening. Alternatively you could set put to explore the town that has quite a few
attractions. You could visit the border or the Chukha Hydrothermal Project. You could also go to the Amo Chuu, the Crocodile Breeding Centre if you love animals and wildlife! Rev up your bikes all the way back to Siliguri where you will hand them over. Overnight at Siliguri.

Day 9Departure

After the Breakfast, you are free to explore local by your own and depart for Bagdogra Airport, enriched by this experience of a love affair with Bhutan.

  • One of the most important things on a motorcycle trip is the having trouble free motorcycles and I think they excelled at providing these.
The arrangements starting from accomodation right upto support staff was excellent!

A special shot out to Akhil for overseeing and troubleshooting and adding the much needed fun and humour to the whole trip!

Shashank is by far the best mechanic I have come across with confidence to handle any and every issue of the bike ! Cheers and thanks for all the efforts !

  • A well organized Touring company who has a group of talented people which will make your journey memorable. Also, Sufiyan & Akhil did the great job being focussed to fulfill our small & some important wishes of providing Soups to unwell in unlike weather or Hot water arrangements in Cold conditions.

All was well taken care of.
    Kudos to their efforts!

    Thanks for everything.

  • We traveled with them to Bhutan during the Christmas week. These guys are doing a good job but there are a few points I need to highlight.
1.Due to the peak travel season, they overbooked majorly. Our group had 47 people with just one person to manage them. This led to extreme chaos and our itinerary for the first three days got ruined.
    2. We were promised a smooth permit process but we had to stand in queues for almost 2 hours which led to further delays.
    3. Apart from these issues, we did not face any problems.
    4. The stay and food was decent. The second leg of the trip went almost smooth.
5.The trip leader, Akshay, did handle the entire situation with composure without losing his calm, which is appreciable. He individually ensured that everyone was comfortable.
    6. The bikes were good and a full time mechanic ensured a hassle-free experience on the bikes aspect.
    .
They should avoid such huge groups which will ensure a smooth functioning throughout the trip.

  • Just recently completed a Bhutan bike trip with them. We had paid extra money to get decent Himalayan bikes which we were promised would be double checked for any issues. As soon as we started our journey, within 20 kms one of the bikes broke down. Based on the inclusions on their website, we were promised a full time mechanic with us but were not provided with any. We wasted 3-4 hours working to get the bike fixed and hence has to ride at night which was very dangerous. On our way back to Silliguri, we had the same issue, where the accelerator wire broke down and we didnt get any support from them to get the bike fixed due to lack of mechanic. We all were frustrated and exchanging messages with their management team but didnt get any response, we were technically left stranded. We reached Siliguri late night as well loosing daylight and riding at night.
they outsources the Bhutan side of the trip to an different travel agency and they were very supportive and nice during the Bhutan part of the ourney. They made sure we were comfortable.
you guys need to do a better job in getting your act together or you will loose customers

  • It was a great experience to my trip to Bhutan a few weeks back with friends. Enjoyed every moment of trip with well planning .They provide everything which they promised at the time of booking . A single point to be take care that bikes should get properly checked and serviced before handover to riders. Although they are always ready with backup arrangment. Great team! Great managment! Great Captain! Great memories.
