Day 2Negombo - Sigiriya

Distance: 160 kms

We will start today with a short briefing about the tour. Post briefing, we get on the bikes and ride to the Negombo fish market and the Dutch fort. Later, we head to Sigiriya rock fortress and Dambulla cave temple. After seeing these heritage sites, we arrive in Habarana where an elephant ride is waiting for those who want to try it. We spend the night in Habarana.

Day 3Sigiriya - Trincomalee

Distance: 100 kms

Today, we get back on the saddle and ride to Trincomalee, the world’s most famous deep-water natural harbour. The road passes through a dense forest; spotting of wild elephants, mongoose, peacocks and water monitor lizards in this area is expected! After riding for 150km we stop on the outskirts of Trinco to visit the famous hot springs at Kinniyar. Suitably refreshed, we arrive at our beautiful beach resort at Nilaweli before a fun boat ride to Pigeon Island. The evening is spent relaxing.

Day 4Trincomalee - Polonnaruwa

Distance: 110 kms

In the morning we load the bikes onto the ferry from Trinco to Mutur for a stunning cruise across this famous harbour. Passing through an area that was formerly off-limits to foreigners because of fierce fighting between army and LTTE fighters, we pass through beautiful “Passikuddah” & Kalkudah Beach where we will jump in for a swim in the beautiful tropical sea. As dusk falls we reach historic Polonnaruwa, seat of the 2nd Kingdom of Sri Lanka where we spend the night.

Day 5Polonnaruwa - Mahiyangana

Distance: 90 kms

After breakfast, we saddle up and ride to the citadel of King Parakramabahu the great in Polonnaruwa. Most of the morning will be given over to seeing the various historic sights including the beautiful carved Buddhist statues of Gal Vihara. Leaving this ancient city, we head south to Dambana, ancient home of Sri Lanka’s indigenous Veddah people. As the sun sets we enjoy traditional Veddah dancing, food and drinks before returning to our hotel.

Day 6Mahiyangana – Knuckles Mountain range

Distance: 75 kms

This is the most exciting day for you as we take an unforgettable off-road jungle ride through Knuckles Mountains to Rangala Rural Village & stay overnight in Kandy. After lunch we get back on the bikes for an off-road ride to a tea plantation. Tucked higher up in the Knuckle’s Range, the plantation is one of the more remote ones in Sri Lanka. The ride is challenging but short and you’ll be rewarded with fabulous views and an insightful tour at the tea plantation. We chill-out at beautiful Corbet’s Gap Hotel.

Day 7Knuckles Mountain range - Kandy

Distance: 40 kms

Today, we ride in the Jungle! Stunning rural scenery, winding misty mountain passes and adventure at every turn. After riding west from Corbet’s Gap, we go off the beaten track into areas few tourists ever see. As we climb higher and higher we go deep into dense mountain jungle giving an atmospheric backdrop to our motorbike adventure.
In the evening we will visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a traditional Kandyan dancing show.

Day 8Kandy - Haputale

Distance: 120 km

We start riding through the mountains higher and higher along the hair-pin road, until we reach Nuwara Eliya city, known as Little England from the days when the British used to retreat here to escape the scorching heat of the lowlands. Situated at an altitude of 6,128ft, we visit Ramboda falls hotel which is supposed to be the best spot adjacent to Ramboda falls for a scrumptious lunch while enjoying this fascinating view. Proceeding our journey, we approach to a tea factory. We will have an excursion in the factory giving us a walkthrough on the entire step by step tea making process. Also you have an opportunity to taste & buy verity of tea products. We will spend tonight at Nuwara-Eliya.

Day 9Haputale - Yala

Distance: Approx 145 kms

From Haputhale the road snakes down through the mountains onto the great southern plains leading to the Indian Ocean coast. We stop en route to visit Ravana Ella waterfall then head for the historic Buddhist rock carvings at Buduruwagala, deep in the jungle. Following newly-resurfaced roads we ride east from Wellawaya to Buttala then south to historic Kataragama, passing through national parkland teeming with elephants. We will spend the night in Tissamaharama.

Day 10Yala - Mirissa

Distance: 114 kms

Today, we will leave the jungles behind as we head west along the majestic coastline of southern Sri Lanka to the beautiful town- Mirissa. Our journey takes us past Hambantota, location of Sri Lanka’s newest harbour, and on to Tangalle, much-loved by foreign tourists. The busy commercial town of Matara leads on to Mirissa, set in Sri Lanka’s most beautiful stretch of coastline. We’ll spend 2 nights here relaxing in style. Mirissa’s crescent-shaped beach is known as one of the best sunset viewpoints in Sri Lanka. What better way to celebrate today’s journey with a cocktail on the beach as the sun dips low into the water.

Day 11Mirissa (Rest day)

Today is a rest day. For those who are interested, Mirissa is a famous launching point for whale-watching trips. Huge whales pass just south of Mirissa on their annual migration. An alternative is a short ride along the coast to the historic city of Galle with its enormous Dutch Fort. On the way you can enjoy the spectacle of Sri Lanka’s famous stilt fishermen standing on wooden poles rising from the ocean.

Day 12Mirissa - Sinharaja Forest Reserve

Distance: 80 kms

After our well-earned rest it is back on the bikes to head inland to the famous Sinharaja Forest Reserve, one of the last pieces of natural rainforest remaining in Sri Lanka. Sinharaja is home to an astonishing variety of birds including famous feeding flocks which roam through the forest. The hilly virgin rainforest was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility. It was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve’s name translates as Kingdom of the Lion.

Day 13Sinharaja Forest Reserve - Kitulgala

Distance: 200 kms

From Sinharaja, we ride round the edge of the Highlands to Kitulgala, location for Sir David Lean’s famous 1957 film “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. Traces of the bridge built for the film still remain. Capping off our two-week adventure we spend the day white-water rafting and canyoning. Under the guidance of expert paddlers, we’ll white-water raft down the Kelani River passing through class 3 rapids and with occasional swimming breaks. Back on dry land, we’ll do a short excursion up a narrow canyon near the Kelani River. With full harnesses and expert guides we’ll descend deep into the canyon jumping into plunge pools along the way.

Day 14End of tour

Distance: Approx 90 kms

Today is your last day. After all this excitement we return to the tranquility of the coast for our final night in Negombo. We’ll enjoy a special farewell dinner – celebrating two weeks of Sri Lankan adventure

  • I just came back from a two week trip in Sri Lanka where I rented a Honda 250 to travel around the island. Prior to my arrival, they attentively answered all my emails and ensure a smooth reservation process. On arrival, they showed me the motorcycle I had reserved, and but also let me test drive a few bikes to ensure I was happy with the type and condition of bike. He also gave us very good recommendations on scenic routes, times/distances, and tips on Sri Lankan traffic. The bike rode well, with no issues whatsoever.

Please note that all those horror review on the dangers of driving in Sri Lanka are overblown. If you take secondary routes (which I assume most motorcyclists would want to anyway) you have the occasional mini bus and tuk tuk to deal with. Being a big motorcycle enthusiast and having ridden all over East Africa and Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka is hands down one of my top motorcycling destinations. The scenery, geography and wildlife encountered is not to be missed.

  • Well organised tour with great service and friendly staff. The guide did know all the great back ways and was very attentive of the groups as well.
A fantastic way to see the country with competent, friendly and smiling staff through the whole tour.

  • Once I landed in Colombo, as promised, someone was available to pick me up and I was taken to the guest house. As agreed earlier, the next day morning, a car was arranged and help to take me to Colombo to get my temporary driving permit (I am from India and did not have an IDP). Everything was taken care properly and all formalities were quickly done.

I rented the bike which was in good condition. I drove for a total of 500+ kms in 5 days through all sorts of terrain. Though it had already had 37,000+ kms on the odo, the bike did not give even a whiff of any trouble 🙂

Everything was handled well which made things smooth for me. No hassles. Definitely recommended.

  • Recently finished a 7 day tour with these guys – and what a great experience from start to finish. Correspondence with them in the office prior to the tour was easy and professional – nothing was an issue.
Bikes were in great condition we changed the itinerary multiple times and also during the tour if we wanted something different that day it was no issue at all. Our tour guide Nisal was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable of every area of his country, very friendly and kind and was willing to cater to any changes we wish to make mid tour – extremely professional and we became great friends by the end of the tour.
If you wish to tour Sri Lanka via motorbike this is the company for you.
Thanks again for the great experience.
